The
Geiger counter Quartex detects Bêta
particles,
X and Gamma rays (call ionizing rays) with a great sensibility.
Each ionizing ray that cross the GEIGER-MULLER tube ionize the
special gas, included in the tube. The tube is under a high
voltage and each ionization generates an electric pulse. The
device integrates these pulses during about 30 seconds. A micro
processor transform the number of pulse in "quantity of rays
energies" transmitted to the human body by unit of time, dose
equivalent. Result
is display on a digital screen witch expresses the dose in microphone
Rem by Hour. To be able to discover punctual radioactive sources
a noise is emitted for every ionization in the tube. An increase
of beep frequency indicates the proximity of a radioactive objet.
Works with a 9V battery.
